Some Random Reviews For Yous!:

Young Legionnaires - New project from Bloc Party guitarist is much heavier and thrashier than I expected, but quit enjoyable.

Sloan - Canada's indie rock lords celebrate 20 years with this new release.

Northcote - Sold Canadian folk rock, see him perform this coming Sunday at Phog!

Progress Report - A collaboration from Detroit's D.Allie and Eddie Logix, my favourite hip hop release of the week!

Dreissk & Winterlight - More new materials from one of my favourite electronic labels, N5MD. I don't think I've ever been disappointing in a release from them.

Audio/Rocketry - Edmonton based folk-punk. Their last album did surprisingly well here for an independent unknown act.

An Horse - I enjoyed this boy/girl duos first EP and feel that this release compliments it nicely. This band got a lot of buzz touring with Tegan & Sara last year and is slotted to play this summer's Lalapalooza Fest.

Deezuz - Solid western Canadian Hip Hop, and the only hip hop add of the week! Check it!

Errors - First album to be released on Mogwai's personally owned record label and it's a heck of a release. Described as "Ravier than Foals, more fun than F*ck Buttons and flexing more post-hardcore muscle than Metronomy.", which is actually somewhat accurate. This kind of music is my cup of tea and is better listened to than it is compared or described.

Explosions In The Sky - The radio rep at Sub Pop Records thinks that the instrumental rock sound of Explosions In The Sky appeals more to men than women... Is there an merit to this? Ladies?

Fleet Foxes - Sophomore release from a band who's debut self titled album was one of the most celebrated releases of 2008. That's a lot of expectation to live up to, probably why their front man spent the last three year writing and recording in various studios and locales throughout the states.

High Mother - Locally made old-school punk rock! With drumming from our very own Rob Brun! Written and recorded over two years this album captures the bands raw, high energy sound.

Jennifer Castle - Psychedelic folk rock sounds from this talented Canadian songstress. This new album was release on Flemish Eye, a label who has consistently shipped us great music like Women and Braids.

The Process Meets Ghetto Priest - Some great Dub music for you! Not something we receive a ton of, so have yourself a listen.

Young Widows - New album from this trio is probably their least heavy to date, but I still enjoyed as much as their earlier louder material.

Random Reviews For Yous!:

Antonymes - Some really great avante-garde recording from this Hidden Shoal 5-piece.

Crystal Stilts - New music from this Brooklyn Psychedelic Folk group stand up to their earlier releases.

Grimes & D'eon - Two of Montreal's finest electronic producers team up for this split 12".

Ladysmith Black Mambazo - World music releases don't get much better than this.

Le Tout Puissant Orchestre - Maybe they do, first release in 25 years!

Sweatshop Union & Swollen Members - Two western Canadian hip hop releases for you. Sweatshop has always stayed underground and found a ton of success with their last EP series. Swollen Members are an act that has bounced from mainstream to the underground and back again, personally I think this is their best release in years.

The Sandwitches - Both Adam and I found that this album was both super-cool and somewhat annoying... What do you think?

CJAM New Music for April 14th, 2011!!!

Greetings All!

Well, the weather has finally started to pick up and a barrage of shows and festivals are coming up over the next few months all over Michigan and Ontario. If you're hoping to get coverage for any event coming up this summer be sure to let me know and I will try my best to get something set up for you. I was even able to acquire accreditation for Mutek Festival in Montreal for a couple of programmers when they requested it, so be sure to take advantage of these great opportunities! On that topic I will be emailing you a list of upcoming events and festivals this summer this weekend, take a look and see if anything piques your interest!

A quick word on Play Sheets:
- If you're doing a pre-recorded episode of your show, you need to emailing me the play sheet BEFORE the program goes to air.
- Make sure that you are writing "yes" in the Can Con field. NOT "y" or "yeah" or "yes!". The database will not record anything other than "yes".
- Be sure to consistently meet your Can Con levels, if you are doing a special program that doesn't allow you to meet your quota make sure you email me explaining the situation and then be sure to compensate the following week.

With our CRTC application quickly approaching it is absolutely imperative that our play sheets and logs are in good order to ensure our ability to broadcast.

Lots of new music this week, big add weeks for both the electronic and jazz sections. As per usual: Artists have been linked to their respective web pages for your previewing convenience.

Some Reviews For Yous:

B LAN 3 & Jib Kidder - Two great experimental electronic releases from the fantastic Asthmatic Kitty Music Library Catalog Series.

Darkest Hour - Solid release from this hardcore/metal outfit that has found a decent amount of success with us in the past.

Ladytron - Album celebrates ten years of releases from this female electro duo.

Les Chaud Lapins - Fun traditional French music.

Darius Jones & Matthew Shipp - Matt Shipp is one of my favourite jazz pianists, add in the alto sax stylings of Darius Jones and this album is a winner.

The Cave Singers - 3rd release from this reputable Seattle based pop-folk outfit.

Unkle - A follow up to last years, 'Where Did The Night Fall' features vocals from Nick Cave.
